Arrested in Italy on suspicion of financing Hamas

Seven people have been arrested in Italy, suspected of raising millions of euros for the terrorist organization Hamas.

Italian police have also issued international arrest warrants for two people believed to be outside the country's borders.

The nine are accused of sending the equivalent of just over 75 million kronor to organizations based in "Gaza, the Palestinian territories, or Israel that are owned, controlled or linked to Hamas," a police statement said.

In addition to the nine, three organizations are being investigated which police suspect are a cover for actions aimed at financing Hamas.

Hamas, labeled a terrorist group, has ruled Gaza. The movement's attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, triggered the Gaza War.
