A hospital confirms that a man in his 30s has been killed, while an organization representing Israeli settlers in the West Bank says the man was one of the settlers.
"Our forces will hunt down the terrorist who carried out the deadly attack," Netanyahu said.
Violence between settlers in the occupied West Bank and Palestinians has intensified, with several incidents in which settlers have attacked or harassed Palestinians and their property.
The shooting took place near Neveh Tzuf in connection with celebrations of the Jewish New Year.
A suspect has reportedly been arrested, reports The Jerusalem Post. The suspect is said to have been shot and then sought treatment at a hospital, where he was arrested.
