Extensive protests have been going on for at least six weeks in Bolivia, in which demonstrators have called for President Paz to resign, citing, among other things, a weak economy.

In early May, several roadblocks were set up outside major cities at the urging of the trade union movement Cob. The protests have been violent at times, with clashes between demonstrators and police. Government buildings have also been stormed.

Now an agreement has been reached between the organization and the president.

From now on, the protest actions are suspended throughout the country, said Mario Argollo, chairman of Cob.

A number of the roadblocks were removed earlier this week, according to AFP.
