A man suspected of setting his wife on fire on a tram in Germany has turned himself in to the police.
The 46-year-old woman was attacked on a tram in the city of Gera in eastern Germany on Sunday morning. According to the police report, she was attacked by a man who sprayed flammable liquid and then set her on fire.
Suspicions were immediately directed at the woman's husband. A day later, on Monday morning, the man came voluntarily to the police station in Gera, where he was arrested.
The tram driver extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher. The woman suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital by helicopter.
