The incident occurred on a pedestrian and cycle path in Oskarshamn on Sunday evening. The man, who is in his 35s, was able to get to his home afterwards and call the police himself at around 7:30 p.m.
The man described to the police that it was a strange, dark-clad man who threw the liquid, reports SVT Nyheter Småland .
"After speaking with the man, we cannot see any motive," says police spokesman Thomas Johansson.
The scene of the attack has been examined by police technicians.
"We have had the emergency services on site, who have cleaned up the ground. It is some kind of corrosive liquid that has been used," says police spokesman Patric Fors.
The incident is being investigated as aggravated assault, but police have no suspect.
