The time was just before 20.30 when the police received several calls about loud bangs in the Boländerna district of Uppsala. Outdoors, in close proximity to a restaurant, a man was found with serious gunshot injuries.
In the subsequent work, in the near future and in the nearby area, one individual was apprehended near Fyrisån, says the police's press spokesperson Stefan Larsson at the time.
It is still an ongoing operation with a large number of resources at both locations. We are working with securing evidence, collecting potential material from surveillance cameras and conducting interviews.
The healthcare emergency centre in Uppsala told UNT, which first reported the incident, that two people had been taken to hospital by ambulance. Those reports were later withdrawn.
The incident is classified as attempted murder.
