A person has been detained following the fire in a multi-family house in Vimmerby on Thursday morning, reports P4 Kalmar. The circumstances are unclear and therefore the fire is being investigated as a suspected aggravated arson, the police tell the radio.
There is no information that anyone was injured.
We have searched the property without finding anyone, said Kenneth Söderberg, incident commander at the rescue service in Vimmerby earlier.
The property was described by him as completely destroyed. The alarm came in at 05.51 and in an apartment in the property, there was an open fire. All residents of the entire house had to be evacuated. By 7.30 in the morning, the fire was extinguished.
