The former Spanish national team midfielder Sergio Busquets is ending his career after the season with the club team Inter Miami, he announces on social media.

”I'm retiring very happy, proud and above all grateful. Football has given me unique opportunities for experiences in wonderful places with the best travel companions”, says the 37-year-old on Instagram.

Busquets was part of the team that won the World Championship gold with Spain in 2010 and the European Championship gold in 2012. During his time in Barcelona, he won the Champions League three times and the Spanish league nine times, and formed an iconic midfield together with Xavi and Andrés Iniesta.

"What a privilege it has been to have played with you all these years, brother. Your way of playing was unique and we will never forget it”, writes Andrés Iniesta, former teammate in both Barcelona and the national team, on social media.

Busquets left Barcelona for Inter Miami in 2023.
