Serbia is negotiating with Russia on an extended contract for deliveries of fossil gas from Russia.
Thanks to a stable relationship with Moscow, we are in a very favorable position for economic talks, to discuss the gas agreement with Russia, says Serbia's Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin at an economic forum in the United Arab Emirates.
Serbia's government is aiming to get a contract with the same delivery volumes as the existing agreement, which expires in March.
Serbia has so far refrained from imposing sanctions against Russia due to the Ukraine war. However, the country has condemned the Russian aggression and sent humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
Serbia uses around three billion cubic meters of fossil gas per year, and Russian Gazprom accounts for approximately two-thirds of the deliveries.
