The issue of using methylene chloride, also known as DCM, has led to extensive demonstrations in and around Eskilstuna.

Now the Chinese company is backing down and says the chemical should not be used.

Instead, new technology has been developed so the chemical is not needed.

"We will therefore end the ongoing process around DCM and begin the process to implement and industrialize the new solution in Eskilstuna," says Cecilia Vallin, vice president of Senior Materials' operations in Eskilstuna, to SVT.
