Senegal's parliament approves law doubling penalties for same-sex marriage

The law prohibits “crimes against nature” - a term used to describe same-sex marriage - and imposes a penalty of five to ten years in prison.

The penalty for advocating same-sex relationships is three to seven years in prison.

No one in parliament voted against the law, which will now be signed by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
