Semiconductor manufacturer Nexperia's Dutch unit is unable to contact the company's Chinese branch and is now writing an open letter to its own operations.

The semiconductor manufacturer is asking its Chinese operations to resume production. The open letter is published on the company's website after "repeated attempts to establish direct communication through conventional channels."

"Customers in various industries are still reporting impending production shutdowns. This situation cannot continue," the company writes in the letter to the Chinese operation.

Earlier this fall, China decided to restrict semiconductor shipments from Nexperia in response to Dutch authorities' sanctions against the Chinese-owned company. The Dutch government later lifted the sanctions and China decided to lift the ban.

The company's products are important to the automotive industry and several automakers have warned that the availability of semiconductors is crucial to their financial goals.
