The self-driving bus made its first trip on a regular service in May. However, after just an hour, it was hit from behind by a tram.
The accident caused the Swedish Transport Agency to withdraw the permit for the test - and now that part of the project is being stopped completely.
Västtrafik instead hopes to be able to continue the tests in some other form.
"It is also the purpose of a pilot project to gain knowledge that helps us make better decisions about the next step. At the same time, we can conclude that traffic in central Gothenburg is too complex for the technology in its current form," project manager Per Nyrenius tells GP.
