After several weeks of test runs, the time had come: the self-driving bus in Gothenburg would be allowed to take passengers on board. But not even two hours after the premiere trip, an accident occurred.

"The bus braked and then the tram hit the bus from behind," says Patrik Chi at Västtrafik's press service to GP.

No one was injured in the crash, but the bus was still stopped.

"Since then, the project has remained unchanged, but safety is most important," says project manager Per Nyrenius to GP.

The self-driving bus is almost the same size as a regular bus and travels at the same speed. There is a driver on board who can take over driving if necessary.
