SEK 386 million for more satellite launches from Esrange outside Kiruna

The money will come in the spring budget amendment, Minister of Defense Pål Jonson (M) announced at a press conference.

Esrange is the EU's only mainland launch facility for satellites. More actors should be given the opportunity to launch satellites from there.

He emphasizes that space is a military-strategic domain whose importance is increasing. This has been demonstrated not least in Ukraine, where the availability of satellite-based communications and targeting has proven crucial.

The government is also proposing 14 million to the Swedish Space Agency to enable it to build expertise on permit matters.
