A man who is the brother of the head of Israel's security police is being charged with smuggling goods into the Gaza Strip during the ongoing war, Israeli media report.

Bezalel Zini, the brother of Shin Bet security police chief David Zini, is accused of participating in smuggling boxes of cigarettes and other items into Palestinian territory while serving in the military. He is charged with aiding Israel's enemy in time of war and bribery.

The prosecution points out that the Islamist movement Hamas, which is designated a terrorist organization, has made substantial sums from rare tobacco products smuggled into Gaza.
