We're having fun and we're playing hard, Markström said to reporters after the match.
He praised his teammates, as he only had to stand in the way for twelve shots. It was the third shutout so far this season.
Tampa Bay's Swedish goalkeeper Jonas Johanson also excelled in the net. He kept a shutout with 36 saves when Florida was defeated 4–0. It was the first time this season and the fourth in his NHL career that Johanson stood in the way for everything.
Pettersson scores two goals
Vancouver's Elias Pettersson scored two goals within 44 seconds in the second period against San Jose. He then left the match in the third period, it is unclear why. Vancouver won the meeting 4–3, San Jose's William Eklund initiated the goal scoring.
Boston's Elias Lindholm also scored a direct hit when Washington was defeated 4–1. He faked in a breakaway and put the puck in the net with a backhand.
I was alone with the goalkeeper and it felt great to see it go in, says Lindholm afterwards.
Dahlin: Can't feel better
Buffalo's defenseman Rasmus Dahlin had a strong point-scoring evening, with four assists when New York Islanders were crushed 7–1. It was his second match after a two-week injury break due to back problems. For Dahlin, and the entire team, it was a long-awaited victory, after 13 consecutive losses.
I can't feel better than I do now, said Dahlin afterwards.
Now it's entirely up to us to continue like this.
Another New Jersey-Swede, forward Jesper Bratt, got an assist for two of New Jersey's goals. He is now up to 31 assists and 14 goals in a total of 37 matches.
Mika Zibanejad's Rangers are, on the other hand, ice-cold this year. The loss to New Jersey was their 13th loss in the last 17 matches.
