I think it's fun to do everything, and I watch everything, from horror to European film. As long as it's different. Everything is a challenge, says Sebastian Stan to TT.
In "A different man", which was written and directed by Aaron Schimberg, he plays Edward. Edward is a man who suffers from neurofibromatosis, a disease that manifests itself in large tumors. He becomes friends with his neighbor Ingrid, and undergoes an operation that makes him look "normal", says he's called Guy and that Edward is dead.
Ingrid and Guy start a relationship, at the same time as she has written a play about Edward. Guy gets the lead role, but problems arise when the theater is visited by Oswald, a charming man who also suffers from neurofibromatosis.
I think it's a smart film. There's something for everyone to relate to, it's about acceptance, it's funny and tragic, says Sebastian Stan.
Walked around in makeup
Before filming, Stan walked around Manhattan made up as Edward.
It was a very educational experience. When you meet people face to face, they can't hide their reactions, they're not good liars. It shows how society treats those who look different. It felt very lonely to be part of a world that doesn't accept the different, he says.
In many ways, this feels like a European film, it's different, it's more intelligent than much else. I like doing everything, from Marvel to any genre. It's exciting to get to do everything.
Doesn't want to talk Trump
It's clear that he doesn't want to talk about his role as Donald Trump in "The apprentice". Considering the high-tension tone in the US, it would be easy to believe that he's bombarded with hate, but that's not the case.
I stopped following social media in 2022, so my life is okay. I don't care about what happens there, I live in the real world. However, I'm worried about the younger generation. It's sad to see. But I recently saw a survey in The New York Times, where they asked young people if they would give their future children access to social media and most said no.
What happens next?
I don't know. I don't live in expectations. I'm a guy who lives in the present.
