SEB to Pay $33 Million to New York Regulator, Ending Investigations into Historical Processes

SEB has reached an agreement with New York authorities, ending their investigations into the bank’s historical processes.

The agreement means that SEB will pay a total of $33 million (just over 328 million kronor) to New York’s financial regulator, the DFS, the bank writes in a press release.

This follows a DFS review of the routines, controls and processes then in place for customer due diligence and transactions in SEB’s Baltic operations between 2015 and 2019.

According to the bank, this concludes the US cases concerning SEB’s historical anti-money laundering measures.

The US Department of Justice has concluded its review without taking any action.
