Sean "Diddy" Combs appeals his four-year prison sentence, according to several American media outlets.

His lawyers submitted the documents to the court in New York on Monday. There was nothing about the grounds for the appeal, but the defense is expected to return with more detailed documents within the coming days or weeks, writes The New York Times.

The hip-hop star was convicted of several prostitution-related crimes, but was also acquitted of most of the more serious charges. He received a prison sentence of four years and two months, probation for an additional five years, and a fine of 500,000 dollars.

The prosecutors demanded 11 years, while the defense thought that a 14-month sentence could be sufficient – of which 13 had already been served.
