When asked by DN about how SD's rhetoric affects Muslims in Sweden, Richard Jomshof says that he wants to turn it around and "ask the question how the large immigration from the Muslim world affects us", and mentions terrorist acts and the culture of honour.

Jomshof is asked if he has any message for Muslims in Sweden "who are not included in what you mention, who live peacefully".

They can stop being Muslims for the first time, he replies.

Centre Party leader Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist calls it "an attack on the religious freedom we have in Sweden."

"It applies to everyone. Christians, Jews, Muslims and those who do not believe at all. Islamism and religious extremism should be fought with force, but that is something completely different from making people suspicious of their faith," she writes on X.

Jomshof was chairman of the Justice Committee in the Riksdag until his resignation last year.
