Many shelters have been forced to close after the government and the SD's stricter requirements.

We set higher requirements for shelters and then many were closed down. Unfortunately, many good shelters went with them. We need to strengthen them so that they can start again, says Sara Gille, the SD's gender equality policy spokesperson.

When asked whether the consequences of the increased requirements should have been predicted, she says:

I don't know, maybe that could have been done. But now we want to invest half a billion to strengthen housing for vulnerable women.

The SD also proposes that a coordinating role be established, which would, among other things, help the women affected.
