Psychiatric homes should be for people in need of more long-term care and permanent support in everyday life.
Housing solutions should be offered for people who have a history of repeated emergency visits, involuntary hospitalizations and round-the-clock care within regular psychiatry, says Åkesson.
According to SD, this is a vulnerable patient group that often falls between the cracks of municipalities and regions.
SD hopes that the state psychiatric homes will provide patients with effective treatment and a better everyday life. Åkesson describes it as a major reform that requires a lot of money and a new authority. SD cannot estimate how many psychiatric homes this may involve.
SD's group leader Linda Lindberg also points out that better care for this patient group also increases security in society.
However, it is not about locking people up against their will, according to her.
This should be based on voluntariness to the greatest extent possible, says Lindberg.
