The remains of an unknown man washed up on the island of Sula on the Norwegian Trøndelag coast on March 9.
The person has now been identified – as a 73-year-old Scottish fisherman who went missing almost four years ago.
The man from Scotland was reported missing in October 2021, after he had gone out to fish. His boat was later found, but the man was missing without a trace.
The Norwegian Kripos managed to identify the remains through a DNA search in Interpol's wanted persons register.
