At least seven children have died and 26 others have been injured when parts of a roof collapsed at a school in western India, according to the police.
Around 60 students, teachers, and other staff were in the one-story building when parts of the roof and walls collapsed in the Jhalawar district. According to the police, the accident occurred when the children were in class early on Friday.
There has been intense rain in the area in recent days. According to local media, the building was in poor condition and there have been several complaints about the building previously.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi says he is deeply saddened by the accident.
"My thoughts are with the affected students and their families at this difficult time," his staff writes on X.
