A school employee was sentenced to prison a year ago for secretly photographing students and posting the images on porn sites. In a new TV documentary, information has now emerged showing that the school was warned at least seven times during the years the man was active, before he was arrested.

According to the documentary on HBO Max, students and parents alerted the school management or school health care at the International English School in Karlstad on several occasions. The first warning came as early as 2017 that the man's behavior was unpleasant. The man was allowed to continue working all the time.

Teachers and students testify to a widespread culture of silence at the school and that the outward image meant everything.

When a student's experiences led to both a police report and a DO-report, the school's stance was that they had difficulty believing that an employee could behave in that way, according to the documentary.

The school management declines an interview in the program, but the communications manager dismisses the allegations that they did not react to warnings and claims that the school "has always taken action" and that they "have not seen any pattern".

The man, who is in his 40s, was sentenced in 2024 to two years in prison for serious child pornography offenses. In total, it involves 166 girls and young women at the school who the man between 2015 and 2023 secretly filmed and photographed.

"Tyst i klassen" will be broadcast on HBO Max starting September 29.
