Germany's Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz and the USA's incoming President Donald Trump agree that the war in Ukraine has gone on "for too long", it is announced from the German side.
"It is of utmost importance that steps are taken as soon as possible towards a just, reasonable and sustainable peace", they have agreed on during a phone call, according to the German government.
Scholz said that he will continue to support Ukraine in its defense against Russia as long as it is needed.
