The film will be directed by Mike Flanagan and will be a "radical new interpretation" of the story, writes industry magazine Variety .
In the original 1973 film by William Friedkin, a mother hires two Catholic priests to try to exorcise the devil who has possessed a twelve-year-old girl. Ellen Burstyn, Linda Blair and Max von Sydow starred in that film.
The latest version of the story was released as late as 2023. But “The Exorcist: Believer” was not a success with the audience and now a new attempt is being made by director Mike Flanagan, who is best known for the films “Doctor Sleep” and “The Life of Chuck”.
