Hotel chain Scandic is set to start competing with ski resort operator Skistar and is now establishing itself in Sälen. Scandic has signed a lease agreement with property owner Lima besparingsskog regarding a hotel between Tandådalen and Hundfjället.

“Our growth strategy is clear: we want to strengthen our position in the Nordics by expanding to new attractive locations. Sälen is an established and sought-after destination with great demand from both Swedish, Nordic, and international visitors,” says Jens Mathiesen, CEO of Scandic Hotels in a press release.

The property has 120 rooms and 16 apartments. Before the opening, during the season 2027–28, a new ski lift is also to be established.
