After the penalty shootout, Celtic fans stormed the pitch to celebrate advancing in the cup, and home team Rangers fans also entered the pitch.
Pyrotechnics were thrown between the supporters before police and security guards could intervene to form a barrier.
Away supporters have previously been banned or had reduced allocations at meetings between the two Glasgow teams, Celtic and Rangers, known as the Old Firm derby, as a result of scandalous scenes.
Sunday's meeting was a test to see if it might be possible to allow more away supporters back into matches between the teams.
Celtic won 4–2 on penalties after a 0–0 draw at full time. Celtic's squad includes Swedish striker Benjamin Nygren.
