Marius Lindvik and Johann Forfang were disqualified after the competition in the large hill on Saturday.
Lindvik finished second and he and the home crowd cheered for a silver medal – but the cheering stuck in their throats.
Forfang finished fifth.
A third Norwegian jumper, Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal, was disqualified after the first round.
The three Norwegian jumpers were the only ones disqualified for incorrect attire. Norwegian jumpers have been disqualified for the same thing earlier during the World Championship.
On the internet, videos are circulating that can prove cheating with Norwegian jumping suits after they were initially approved.
Austria, Poland, and Slovenia then filed a protest.
It's a catastrophe for the Norwegian team, but also for the entire sport, says Adam Malysz, chairman of the Polish Ski Association, to NRK.
But Norwegian national team coach Magnus Brevig dismisses the accusation of cheating.
The suit was checked and in the end, they found that the seam in the crotch was too inelastic. It's not cheating, it's a rule violation, says Brevig.
Domen Prevc, Slovenia, won the World Championship gold ahead of Jan Hörl, Austria, and Japanese Ryoyu Kobayashi took bronze.
