Scaleway and AMD to Launch AI Supercomputer in Sweden

French company Scaleway and American chipmaker AMD are launching a new AI supercomputer in Sweden, equipped with AMD’s advanced chips, Scaleway said in a press release.

The venture in the Stockholm area is Scaleway’s first supercomputer deployment outside France. It will give AI companies and large enterprises across Europe access to an open software system and large-scale computing capacity powered by AMD Instinct MI355X graphics processors.

"The initiative builds on Scaleway's partnership with Tele2 and the company's growing presence in the country," Scaleway writes.

“We see growing demand among our customers for European cloud and AI services, and this establishment is a clear signal that Sweden is an attractive location for AI infrastructure,” says Stefan Trampus, head of enterprise business at Tele2.

Scaleway is part of the Iliad Group, which is also a major owner of the mobile operator Tele2.
