The annual flagship conference of the Future Investment Initiative (FII), also known as "Davos in the desert," was scheduled to take place from October 26 to 29. For nearly a decade, the conference has served as a showcase for Saudi Arabia's efforts to attract global investors, business leaders and heads of state.
The decision to cancel came after Riyadh International Airport - a frequent target of Houthi attacks - was forced to close following an attack on October 10 that killed 13 people. There is currently no timetable for when air traffic might resume.
