Recently, Saudi Arabia has been rocked by attacks by the Iran-backed Houthi movement, and at least 19 people have been killed in just over a week.
The security situation has raised questions about whether Saudi Arabia will be able to host the Asian Championships. The tournament starts on January 7 and, according to the Saudi organizing committee, it will go ahead as planned.
"Preparations are proceeding according to schedule. The focus remains on offering a world-class tournament," the organizing committee said in a statement.
The South Korean players' union has previously expressed concerns about playing in the tournament in Saudi Arabia.
