Saudi Arabia Says It Intercepted Missiles and Drones Bound for Riyadh and Other Targets

The Saudi-led coalition fighting the Houthi movement in Yemen says it has intercepted missiles and drones heading towards targets in Saudi Arabia. Houthi rockets have also hit targets near Aden airport.

The Iran-backed Houthi movement in Yemen continues to attack targets in Saudi Arabia while launching a new wave of attacks in southern Yemen, which is still controlled by the internationally recognized government.

"We have intercepted and destroyed three drones in southern regions and Riyadh, as well as two cruise missiles over the Red Sea," coalition spokesman Turki al-Malki wrote on X on Friday afternoon.

The attacks took place on Friday afternoon, according to al-Malki, who added that a ballistic missile was destroyed near the port city of Yanbu in western Saudi Arabia.

At the same time, the Houthi movement has opened a new front in southwestern Yemen, targeting the important coastal city of Aden.

On Friday evening, two rockets were reported to have hit targets near or inside the Aden airport area. According to the Aden security department, there were no reports of casualties in the attacks.
