Saudi Arabia has executed journalist Turki Al-Jasser seven years after he was arrested and sentenced for terrorism and treason.

Al-Jasser wrote a personal blog between 2013 and 2015 and was known for his articles about the Arab Spring, women's rights and corruption.

According to the New York-based organization Committee to Protect Journalists, the Saudi authorities claimed that he was behind an account on X, then Twitter, which directed corruption allegations against the Saudi royal family.
