This concerns a feared shortage of so-called electrofuel (e-SAF) when an EU regulation on more sustainable flying comes into force.
"This is a structural issue that will affect ticket prices, route networks and Europe's competitiveness if we do not act now," Mads Brandstrup Nielsen, Head of Sustainability at SAS, said in a press release.
SAS sees two possible paths forward: either Europe lowers its ambitions and delays aviation's climate transition, or production is increased with political support, investment incentives and new infrastructure.
