In total, the group's costs for jet fuel are estimated to rise to $9.3 billion (equivalent to SEK 101 billion).

Plans for increased flight capacity have been tightened to 2–4 percent this year, compared with a previous plan of 3–5 percent.

KLM announced on April 16 that it had canceled 80 routes to and from Amsterdam in May due to higher fuel prices.

The group made an operating loss of EUR 27 million in the first quarter, compared with a loss of EUR 328 million in the same quarter a year earlier.

Turnover increased by 4.4 percent to EUR 7.5 billion.
