An SAS flight en route to Copenhagen from New York has been diverted to a Canadian military base, reports Ekstra Bladet.

"There was a technical problem with the flight that required us to land," a press officer at SAS told the newspaper.

We have sent a plane to bring the passengers home.

The flight left New York at midnight Swedish time and was then diverted to the Goose Bay military base in Canada where it landed at 2:00 a.m.

It is unclear why the flight was diverted. It will be investigated by technicians.
