"I wanted you to hear it from me. Unfortunately, Hulu has decided not to move forward with 'Buffy: New Sunnydale,'" Sarah Michelle Gellar said in a video on Instagram.
The original series was created by Joss Whedon and aired from 1997 to 2003. The new series was scheduled to air later this year and the pilot episode was directed by Chloé Zhao, who is currently involved with the film "Hamnet."
Sarah Michelle Gellar starred in the series, which is based on an earlier 1992 film and revolves around young vampire hunter Buffy Summers. The series also had a spin-off, "Angel," that aired from 1999 to 2004.
