It was a home win for Austrian Julia Scheib, who took her third giant slalom victory of the season, out of a possible five. She was 14 hundredths ahead of Camille Rast, Switzerland, and 40 hundredths ahead of Sara Hector.
Crazy. I didn't believe in victory. It was so tough and hard. I was so relieved when I finished, said Scheib in the victory interview on Viaplay.
Hector had the lead after the first run, but only by two hundredths. In the second run, she lost time when the hill was very bumpy and she couldn't let go of her speed at the end.
Last year, Hector came second in Semmering.
Third place was the Swede's second of the season. She came second in the giant slalom in Tremblant, Canada, three weeks ago.
Scheib has a big lead in the giant slalom cup. Sara Hector is fourth.
