Daughter Venla was born on May 2. At the time, Sara Hagström did not think she would be able to compete in the European Championships, which will be held in Druskininkai, Lithuania, September 24–30.
"During the birth, I lost some blood, so I thought it was time to come back this year," says Hagström in a press release.
But the buildup has gone well - Sara's husband Oskar is also her coach - and after strong performances at the Swedish Championships this weekend, national team captain Håkan Carlsson chose to add the 31-year-old veteran to the European Championship squad.
Seven names have already been pre-selected. The final European Championship squad will be presented in the coming weeks.
