Granér boldly mixes politics and puns "and lets humor and darkness take equal space in the images", as stated in the jury's motivation for the "Löken" award, which is now being awarded for the first time by Svenska Tecknare.

"It feels incredibly fun! It means a lot to me as an artist and means I'll have time to devote to my book", says Sara Granér, who is working on her first graphic novel, about a table hockey game with magical knowledge of the world.

Granér has been active as an artist for two decades and has published several comic books through Galago Publishing. She also shows that she wants to conquer new fields, according to the jury, which emphasizes that the scholarship is forward-looking.

The scholarship of 300,000 kronor has been named after the comic character 47:an Löken, created by comic artist Lennart Elworth. When Elworth passed away in 2023, he and his wife Mary donated funds to future generations of visual creators. The foundation established for this purpose is managed by Svenska Tecknare, which will annually award the scholarship to one of its members.

"I'm also so happy that this scholarship exists and that my colleagues will receive it in the future. It's a big thing that Mary and Lennart gave this gift to the guild", says Sara Granér.
