However, the Security Service has not raised the terror threat level due to the increased risk of attacks.

"We are at an elevated threat, a three on a five-point scale. Within the framework of that terrorist threat level, an attack could occur," says Hallström.

The authority assesses that the threats are not primarily directed at Sweden, but at countries participating in the war or individual groups in society such as Jews and opposition Iranian exiles.

"Sweden is not necessarily the target, but there are other targets where Sweden is used as an arena. These are primarily American, Jewish and Israeli targets, but also opposition groups that are in Sweden," says Hallström.

Seen an increased threat picture

How worried should Swedish Jews be?

"We have seen for quite some time an increased threat to Jewish and Israeli interests. We share our assessments with organizations and institutions together with the Police Authority to create the best conditions for feeling as safe as possible. But the world around us looks like this and it is difficult for us to change it," says Hallström.

He also raises the risk that Iran's intelligence and security services assign various agents, such as gang criminals, to carry out attacks in Sweden.

"I do not want to comment on individual individuals, but simply state that Iran can use criminal gang structures in Sweden as agents."

A traditional terrorist threat

What is your message to the people of Sweden?

"It is important to be aware that we have a significantly deteriorated security situation and at the same time it is easy to just look at the latest conflict we are seeing now in Iran," says Hallström and continues:

"We have a sizeable threat actor in the form of Russia, and we also have a traditional terrorist threat that is reflected in the elevated threat level. It was not long ago that we had an attack in Sydney, on Bondi Beach, but it seems to be forgotten."
