A young man was shot and injured in Sandviken on Friday. The incident is believed to have a connection to the criminal gang environment, says the police's press spokesperson Stefan Larsson to Arbetarbladet.

Larsson says further that it is "information that has emerged" in the information that the police have collected so far during the investigation.

The police received the alarm about the shooting just after 5 pm on Friday. Two young men in their 18s were shot, one was taken to hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.

The police are investigating the incident as attempted murder and serious weapons crime. No person has been arrested.

Just over two weeks ago, six people were shot in central Gävle. Stefan Larsson said on Saturday to Arbetarbladet that the police are "looking into" whether there may be any connection to that incident and Friday's shooting in Sandviken.
