France, Germany, and the United Kingdom are considering easing the sanctions imposed on Syria during the reign of former leader Bashar al-Assad.
I am working with my European colleagues to quickly lift the targeted economic sanctions, says France's Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot during a conference in Paris on Syria's future.
The message was almost simultaneously confirmed by Germany's Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and Stephen Doughty, minister at the British Foreign Office.
"Relaxed restrictions apply, among other things, to energy, transport, and the financial sector", wrote Doughty in a comment on a proposal to the British Parliament.
The Assad regime was overthrown in December, and the country's interim government is led by rebel leader Ahmed al-Sharaa.
