Superstar Wembanyama had never played in a seventh, decisive NBA playoff game before. In the game, he was San Antonio's top scorer with 22 points and helped the team win the Western Conference title.
"This feeling, I can't describe it. It's so powerful," Wembanyama said, according to the AP.
This season's MVP, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, did what he could to carry his injury-hit Oklahoma City team, but his 35 points weren't enough.
San Antonio now heads to the NBA Finals and has the chance to repeat the historic feat from 1999. Their opponent is the New York Knicks - the same team San Antonio defeated 4–1 to win its first of five NBA titles, 27 years ago.
The New York team defeated Cleveland in four straight games in their semifinals. The final series begins Thursday night.
