South Korean Samsung Electronics has, through its subsidiary Harman International, purchased German ZF's driver assistance systems unit for 1.5 billion euros (equivalent to 16 billion SEK).

The deal strengthens Samsung's position in the use of smart cameras, radar and driver computers, according to a statement from Harman.

Samsung acquired Harman International in 2017.

ZF manufactures gearboxes and other components for German BMW and Volkswagen.
