With a third round of 69 strokes – one under par – the American leads ahead of the Australian Adam Scott and the compatriot JJ Spaun. The latter and Burns took turns taking the lead during the round, before Burns finally managed to secure the top position with par on the 18th hole.
A kick in the heel of the leading trio is Norway's Viktor Hovland in fourth place. The Norwegian had noticeable difficulties during the beginning of the round but managed to play himself up.
The Swedish hope Ludvig Åberg made his exit already after Friday's round. Migraine led to shaky play from the Swede, who failed to qualify for Saturday's play.
The winner of tomorrow will become 4.3 million dollars richer.
