After the group Palestine Action was banned in the UK last year, Sally Rooney announced that all proceeds from her books would go directly to the organisation, an act now classified as a crime under British law.
Rooney's British publisher, Faber, writes on its website:
"Current legislation in the UK means that Faber cannot pass on any revenue to Sally Rooney for her work. We have decided, in agreement with Sally, that we cannot provide her books in any format."
